Water tank cleaning services Cape Town South Africa

The Tank Doctor
When was your outdoor water tank last cleaned?

We clean outdoor water tanks with a process that uses minimal water. We offer a professional outdoor water tank cleaning service that removes sludge from your water tank floor. Our process is accurate and efficient and removes minimal water. The tank water is not stirred up and can be used the same day after cleaning. We prefer your outdoor water tank to be nearly full of water when we clean the tank and do not need to remove all the water.

Testimonials

We’ve had our rainwater tank system for a good couple of years and have been wondering how to clean it, especially the sediment at the bottom. By chance received the contact for The Tank Doctor from social media and decided to make contact and schedule a tank cleaning.

Robin and Roy were both exceptionally friendly and efficient, as well as very knowledgeable. When a minor issue arose with one of their pump motor systems (largely due to load-shedding) we were kept informed constantly on the progress of the repairs and when they could finish the job, allowing us to align it with our earliest possible convenience.

Surprisingly quick and very effective, I can heartily recommend them if you happen to have tanks that require a good cleaning.

TIPS TO KEEP YOUR OUTDOOR WATER TANKS IN GOOD CONDITION

01

Collection point

02

Tank inlet screens

03

Bird waste

04

Animal waste

The problem starts at the collection point. Leaves piled on the roof and the gutter create tannin staining of the water and quickly find their way down into the outdoor water tank.

Leaves trapped in tank inlet screens must be cleared on a regular basis. If left to build up they will pollute the rainwater as they decompose acting as a giant tea strainer.

Bird waste can introduce harmful waste such as E.Coli to the rainwater supply. Watch for birds nesting under solar panels.

Animal waste on the roof and in the guttering can introduce unsafe levels of bacteria to the rainwater supply so check under overhanging tree branches. Filtration with UV sterilization is recommended. Germicidal Tank Lamps (GTL) The area between water and the air at the top of the tank in hot South African conditions is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and pathogens which ultimately will lead to the requirement for the use of the GTL
